Shoelace Length Calculator — Find the Right Lace Length

Enter your shoe's eyelet pairs to find the correct shoelace length in inches and centimeters. Works for sneakers, boots, Converse, and running shoes.

Enter the number of eyelet pairs to find the correct shoelace length.

This shoelace length calculator finds the correct lace length for any shoe based on the number of eyelet pairs. Eyelet pairs are the matching holes on each side of the shoe — count the holes on one side to get the number of pairs. Eyelet spacing matters too: wide-set shoes such as the Air Force 1 need longer laces than the chart suggests. Boot laces need to be 10–15% longer than sneaker laces of the same eyelet count because boots lace up more tightly and the ankle area requires extra length.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I count eyelet pairs?
Count the number of rows of holes on ONE side of the shoe. Each row on one side pairs with the corresponding hole on the other side. A shoe with 6 holes per side has 6 eyelet pairs.
What length laces does a Converse need?
Converse All Star Low takes 45 inches (114 cm) and the All Star High takes 54 inches (137 cm). If you like a looser tie or lace the high-top all the way up, 63 inches (160 cm) gives you extra length.
What is the difference between flat and round laces?
Flat laces lie flatter and are more common on athletic and lifestyle shoes. Round laces are more common on dress shoes and boots. Length calculation is the same for both.
Why are boot laces longer than sneaker laces?
Boot eyelets are spaced further apart, and lacing goes higher up the ankle. The same number of eyelet pairs on a boot requires about 15% more lace length than on a low sneaker.
Can I use laces that are too long?
Slightly too long is manageable — you can double-knot or tuck extra lace into the shoe. Laces that are too short cannot be tied safely.
